What we do
We undertake analyses of a wide range of lipid samples on a commercial
basis.
The Mylnefield Lipid Analysis was set up by Mylnefield Research
Services (MRS) Ltd., in October 1995 through an amalgamation between
the Lipid Units of the Scottish Crop Research Institute (SCRI)
and the University of St Andrews. SCRI is an internationally recognized
centre of excellence for lipid research and analysis.
Here we can boast not only considerable
research expertise, including the use of HPLC and GC-mass spectrometry
for the analysis of lipids,
but also excellent facilities, housed in new, well-equipped laboratories.
We
offer many specific analyses for a large range of lipid-containing
materials, including:
- GLA - containing oils (evening primrose, borage,
blackcurrant)
- Other vegetable oils (e.g. rapeseed, sunflower,
perilla)
- Genetically modified oils
- Fish oils
- Hydrogenated oils
- Lipids of microorganisms
- CLA samples
- Food samples
- Blood samples
Most
important, we are formally accredited to the ISO9001:2000 standard, and
are independently audited, so that we can meet
the requirements of regulatory
or legal authorities.
Coming to us for lipid analysis can benefit you in
several ways:
- Independence from manufacturers, suppliers and purchasers
- Established methods
of analysis
- Extensive experience of GLA, fish and seed oils
- Access to the latest technology,
e.g. GC-MS
- No need to invest in expensive equipment
- Quick turnaround of samples
We also offer both lecture-based, and laboratory-based, training
courses. For details of our upcoming courses, click
